A description of Qu?bec’s small claims procedures, which include voluntary pretrial mediation, a bench decision, and the barring of lawyers. The conversion of the arbitration process, from adversarial to inquisitorial, and greater use of mediation, by interns and less experienced arbitrators, is advocated.
