President Stark posits that “arbitration is still young and growing. It has all the attributes of a healthy, responsive institution, including normal growing pains.” He then surveys arbitration in the steel, auto, rubber, and construction industries; expedited arbitration in the steel, brewery, fabricating, broadcasting and airline industries; appellate and quasi-appellate procedures in the publishing, coal, and railroad industries and in the public sector; interest arbitration in the transportation and hotel industries, in the public sector and in atomic energy. Other private and governmental use of arbitration are also described.
