A review of injury and issues disputes arbitration in football since 1973. The arbitration procedure is viewed as overburdened and in distress. Factors viewed as contributing to the abuse of the system includes players’ identity crises, inapplicability of the industrial model, short careers, salary diversity, limited contact by the Union with players because of geographic diversity, and duplication of the roles of the Union, agents and attorneys.
